Cyst Treatment Options

We provide specialist private treatment for sebaceous cysts, serving Stirling and Forth Valley patients from our Edinburgh-based clinic. Our expert-led approach is tailored to each individual, ensuring precise removal with a focus on achieving the best cosmetic results.

We ensure patients are fully informed and involved in choosing the best treatment option, taking into account factors like the cyst’s size, location, and the patient’s preferences. Observation. For small, symptom-free cysts, we may recommend monitoring for any changes rather than immediate treatment.

Incision and Drainage. This procedure offers quick relief for painful, swollen cysts by draining the contents. However, as the cyst sac remains, there's a higher chance of recurrence.

Surgical Excision. For a more definitive solution, the entire cyst, including its sac, is surgically removed, greatly reducing the likelihood of recurrence. This is performed under local anaesthesia.

Antibiotics. If the cyst is infected, antibiotics may be prescribed to treat the infection, although this won’t remove the cyst itself.
